Last night I stopped in at a brand new local night spot in Hudson, NH. It's called the Hudson North Side Grill on 323 Derry Rd, (also known as Rte 102). Until this past weekend it has been in the last year, a breakfast and lunch destination. On Thursday they opened an addition called " The Backroom". It had the familiar stylish ambiance of the main restaurant area carried back into an area that revealed a bar with pub tables and can probably seat at least 40-50 comfortably. Penny was our hostess behind the bar and Roger and his new bride Lauren were on hand to welcome friends old and new to the christening weekend.
I sat at the bar in front of one of the 60 inch HDTV's and had an appetizer of fried calamari and a libation. The lighting was soft and the room appeared bigger with the decor and the crowd was subdued and friendly. You can order off the main menu in the bar and it will be open to start Thursday through Monday nights to take advantage of weekend get out for dinner and few drinks crowd and the sports fans of local teams. BTW, it has it's own special entrance off to the side.
The experience was made all the better by the dominance of the Bruins over the Senators and getting a big win 4-2. You can bet I'll be heading back on game nights for the warmth, the food and good vibrations. Last night's special was prime rib and although I had a late lunch and wasn't up for dinner, I'll be saving my appetite in the future!
Until Next Time!
