The Bruins score on the fourteenth shot in the shoot out to salvage a win against the Columbus Bluejackets. The Bruins spotted a 2 goal lead to the Jackets in the first period off a Kevan Miller give away to Ryan Johanson and a failure to clear that led to a shot that deflected in off Nick Foligno. While the Bruins didn't look all that sharp in the first period, they tightened the game up in the second period and started to find their offensive rhythm in the second period.
As the third period started, the Bruins were on their lone power play and kept the force going as Dennis Seidenberg scored from center ice off a pass from Matt Bartkowski and Chris Kelly that broke past Sergei Bobrovsky five hole. The Bruins kept the pressure up with consecutive shifts of good possession. As Columbus seemed to be settling the pace of the game down, the Bruins got a good cycle off the Bergeron line that led to a Patrice Bergeron pass pass to Bartkowski who saw Matt Fraser in the slot. He one timed a shot that Fraser was able to deflect past Bobrovsky. Just two minutes later in the midst of a shift change, Carl Soderberg was able to deflect a clearing pass that jumped to the slot where Daniel Paille was able to corral it and sent a quick shot past Bobrovsky.. Not to be out down, the Jackets upped the pace and forced a turnover that led to a Jack Johnson blast from the left point that squeaked past a screened Svedberg. Nicholas Svedberg was my number one star after a rocky start in the first period he made many game savers to keep the Bruins in the mix as they started to take offensive chances in the third period. The game ended in regulation tied 3-3 and after a fast paced Overtime the teams went to shootout mode as both goalies put on a demonstration of denying penalty shots from the best both teams had to offer. Finally rookie Alexander Khocklachev scored for the Bruins on the 14th shot, skating as a replacement for David Krejci who couldn't go tonight.
My stars of the game were Svedberg number one star, Matt Bartkowski with two assists and Sergei Bobrovsky of the Bluejackets. Notable mentions go out to Matt Fraser, Joe Morrow and Daniel Paille.
Until Next Time!
