The Boston Bruins will play the Buffalo Sabres tonight in Buffalo at 7:08PM. This is the first game between the two teams of the season. Buffalo played last night and lost to the Florida Panthers 1-0.
Tonight the Bruins will be the team playing with the fresher legs and hopefully have the jump on a tenacious but not extremely talented Sabres squad.
I'm expecting after Tuukka Rask got pulled that Niklas Svedberg will get the start tonight and the chance to get his first win. Expect to see Simon Gagne play on the right side of Milan Lucic and David Krejci tonight to start the game. I think Matt Fraser will also sneak back into the lineup as the right wing to Greg Campbell and Dan Paille. After the horrible showing last Thursday by the defensemen, will Matt Bartkowski be back in the lineup? If it means pushing Dennis Seidenberg to the right side defense, I hope not. Perhaps Chara could take a turn on the right side and play Hamilton with Seidenberg.
Keyes to the Game. The Bruins have to score against a weaker and less talented Buffalo team. They have to use special teams to good advantage tonight. Protect Svedberg and clean up sloppy play.
Concerns: Buffalo has no reason to respect or stand in awe of Boston. They can play an all out game and let the chips fall where they may. I expect to see Michal Neuvirth in the net as Enroth had a hard night last night. The Sabres have lots of young legs and will push hard early to get a lead. If the Bruins don't bring their physical forecheck tonight, it could be a long night.
Special points: Milan Lucic who apologized to the fans for his gestures in Montreal Thursday, saying he wasn't professional. He and the rest of the Bruins have to keep a cap on their emotions going forward. If the Bruins loose tonight, expect the pressure to ramp up for changes on the roster and perhaps the coaching staff in short order.
Until Next Time !
