Johnny Boychuk arrived over the weekend and was on the ice at Rusticcia Arena for his first Captains practice. He claimed to have left Edmonton Alberta just in time as the snow was falling as he left. Yikes, my eldest daughter was in Edminton two weeks ago and said it was in the high 70's the three days she was there.
Other new arrivals were Frank Simonelli a defenseman signed to an AHL contract with the P-Bruins and Matt Lindblad who drove 16 straight hours together on Saturday from Chicago area. Jordan Caron also had his first skate today.
David Krejci didn't skate today but was in the locker room unloading his hockey gear early this afternoon and is expected on the ice tomorrow. Krejci gave an interview talking about how happy he was to sign an extension for next six years and know he's considered part of the core as well as getting it out of the way so he can just play hockey during the season.
Adam Morrison was the only goalie on the ice today as Tuukka Rask and Patrice Bergeron were in New York City as part of the NHL media day activities and Cory Scheinder who had been working out with the Bruins has gone down to join the Devils pre season skates.
Some interesting elder players remain free agents as of today without contracts or Professional Invites. Ray Whitney, Hal Gill, Todd Bertuzzi and Martin Brodeur are all awaiting a call from somebody..anybody!
TSN.CA reported in an interview with Peter Chiarelli that he's happy with the forwards group of returning players which they felt hinted at Chris Kelly with his limited trade clause might indicate that if the Bruins were going to move any one in the next month it would be Johnny Boychuk, Adam McQuaid or Matt Bartkowski. They feel the Bruins need to move about $3 million in current cap space to add to the current $2.8 million cap space currently available to sign both Torey Krug and Reilly Smith.
Keep coming back to check on the MADNESS as it Grows!
Until Next Time!
