I could write that Brian France does not seem too interested in having mid-week races for the premier NASCAR series, and if he is not interested, don’t look for any Wednesday Night NASCAR. And don’t look for any road courses in The Chase either. Sonoma and Watkins Glen like their current dates, and that means no change there either. That is too bad.
I could mention that Jeff Gordon was supposed to drive the 46 car, not the 24 car in which he has had a hall of fame career. Apparently there was some rights issues with the movie “Days of Thunder” on using the 46.
Instead, I will write about something different though. Most NASCAR fans have never visited a weekly racing dirt track. Big names rarely visit such places and therefore they hold little interest to fans of Sprint Cup racing. That is a shame because such places are the heart and soul of auto racing.
However, two NASCAR stars are racing on dirt this weekend. On Friday and Saturday, Kasey Kahne and Kyle Larson have been in the desert racing this month, at Cocopah Speedway near Yuma, Arizona. The two are racing 410 Sprint Cars in an event called Winter Heat. Winter Heat’s five nights of racing will end this weekend with shows on Friday and Saturday night.
AND, you can actually watch them race live. Speed Sport TV will have PPV’s of the action. For further details go to:
Not all good racing happens on asphalt. Not all good racing comes with a NASCAR sanction. A two night package is just $49.95-call it a reasonably priced night of entertainment, well worth the price of admission.
Thanks for stopping by.
